Bosman Hermanus
Where
Drive up the Hemel-en-Aarde road. Turn left towards the De Bos dam and around a bend, a low-slung building appears on the horizon, perched on a sweeping landscape and anchored under a large tree.
This is the Frame House. A wooden structure housing the wine tasting venue belonging to Bosman Family Vineyards, on their farm in the Upper Hemel-en-Aarde Valley, Hermanus.
Who
The Bosman family have a history of growing wine in the Bovlei of Wellington, dating back to 1810.
In 2000 they acquired a farm in the Upper Hemel-en-Aarde Valley which would supplement their offering with cool climate grapes. Here the vineyards are planted between fields of indigenous ‘fynbos’ and in close proximity to the sea to create terroir rivalling the world's best; and resulting in wines with minerality, elegance, vivacity and finesse.
Famed
Upper Hemel-en-Aarde Range that include a Sauvignon blanc, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
Offerings
The Frame House is a refreshment station from which you can explore both nature and your place within it. This cool climate site produces a range of wines to savour, which may be paired with a selection of locally produced snacks including cheeses, charcuterie, bread and preserves.
For the more energetic, there are two child-friendly hikes through the indigenous fynbos which offer rewarding vistas and glimpses of rare plants, birds and animals.
Barista-made coffee is always on offer.
