Bouchard Finlayson
Where
Bouchard Finlayson is located in the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley - 125 hectares with 25 hectares under vine, and the rest left wild as a conservancy of pristine Fynbos and fauna; a proud World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Conservation Champion member.
Nestled between folded mountains and Walker Bay, the Koue Bokkeveld shale soil and cool ocean breezes ensure our grapes ripen slowly and grow steadily to produce intense flavours for our internationally award winning wines.
Who
Bouchard Finlayson was established in 1989 as a collaboration between Paul Bouchard, celebrated Burgundian winemaker, and locally awarded Peter Finlayson.
Together they produced world renowned wines, with Peter playing an instrumental role in pioneering the production of Pinot Noir in South Africa. We are a perfect balance of old world ways and new creativity and innovation - perfectly expressed in our award winning wines.
In 2017 Peter handed over the winemaking reins to Chris Albrecht, however remaining in a supportive role with a dedicated and passionate team.
Famed
Bouchard Finlayson is known for its high density planting based on Burgundian principals - this allows for greater surface of leaf exposure and restricts root growth which improves fruit concentration. We are acclaimed worldwide for producing some of the best Pinot Noir in South Africa, as well as exceptional Chardonnays and Sauvignon Blanc.

Our cellar is open for wine tastings daily, Monday – Sunday. We also offer delicious grazing platters, picnics, cellar tours and bespoke vintage tastings by appointment, and self-guided hikes through the pristine fynbos on our property.
